- Chainsaw work on tensioned, broken limbs is especially dangerous — limbs can spring back. Leave anything large, overhead or near lines to professionals.
- Wear eye and hearing protection, gloves and chaps.
- Never run generators indoors or in garages.
- After storms, check that a tree service has liability and workers' comp insurance, and never pay in full up front.
- Report contractor fraud to the Oklahoma Attorney General's consumer protection unit.
